Michigan Adoption Subsidy Program Information Guide
This is a link to information in the FIA Publication 538 (9-97) that contains overviews and guidelines on adoption subsidies; MEDICAID and medical subsidies; the responsibilities and rights of adoptive parents.

Michigan Department of Human Services
The Department of Human Services (DHS) is Michigan's public assistance, child and family welfare agency. DHS directs the operations of public assistance and service programs in Michigan's 83 counties.

Adoption Email Lists Directory
Adoption Email Lists Directory Annotated directory of adoption mailing lists for adoptive families. Adoption mailing lists provide invaluable forums for adoptive families, but finding the right one can be confusing. Updated: March 2003

Adoption Forums
This site has 14 different forums focusing on domestic and international adoption, kinship adoption, birth parents, adoptees, infertility, unplanned pregnancies, etc. Anyone wishing to participate in any of the forums must first register. Instructions for registering are provided.

The Learning Center
The Learning Center offers online education, information and support about adoption. Using chat rooms, message boards, and links to information resources, parents can interact with adoptive families and professionals.

Older Child Yahoo Group
A list and support group for families who have adopted an older child or are considering adoption of an older child. Includes a large message board for parents to post questions and answers on. Must register to enter but registration is free.

International Adoption:

Directory of International Adoption Medical Clinics
International adoption medical clinics are great resources for international medical and health, especially if your adopted child has an ailment that is uncommon, not easily diagnosed or difficult to treat. International adoption medical clinics also provide advice on pre-adoption evaluations, immunizations and post adoption medical examinations.

Joint Council on International Children's Services
Joint Council on International Children's Services is one of the oldest and largest affiliation of licensed, non-profit international adoption organizations in the world. Member organizations include adoption agencies, child welfare organizations, parent support groups and medical specialists with an interest in inter-country adoption.

Orphanages and Institutional Care
The editor of Adoption.com, Nancy Ashe, provides a link to an article written by a doctor trained in Romania who explores the institutional setting and the experiences that can lead to unexpected or unusual behaviors in children.

Child Welfare League of America - Positive Parenting

Children's Bureau
The Children's Bureau (CB) is the oldest federal agency for children and is located within the United States Department of Health and Human Services. It is responsible for assisting states in the delivery of child welfare services; services designed to protect children and strengthen families.

The Children's Disability Information web page provides links to articles on parenting, articles on special needs, links to special needs resources, and a directory of mailing lists and forums.

A virtual encyclopedia of information for adults who want to make their communities better places for kids. The web site helps people become more active citizens.

US Department of Health and Human Resources program to provide free or low cost medical insurance to children 18 years old and younger.

National Adoption Information Clearinghouse
As part of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, the National Adoption Information Clearinghouse is a comprehensive resource on all aspects of adoption.

Older Child Adoption Online Magazine
At Older Child Adoption, we share the joys and challenges of adopting an older child. Domestic and international adoption issues are discussed, along with foster care.

Resources for Special Needs Children
